The Blue Ridge Parkway
We are blessed with miles and miles of “America’s Favorite Drive”, running north and south from Asheville with plenty of spots for you to unpack an Asheville Picnic Backset for a roadside picnic! There are multiple places to access the Parkway from Asheville, and we recommend taking your picnic basket and blanket to one of the grassy roadside mileposts for a beautiful Sunset view.
All of our baskets come with a trash bag for a “leave no trace” experience.

Craggy Gardens
One of our favorite spots, and a popular destination, Craggy Gardens has a mile-high specular view only 20 miles from downtown Asheville. The Craggy Pinnacle Trail is a 1.5-mile round trip hike to the top for incredible panoramic views. Craggy Gardens Picnic area is perfect to accommodate larger Picnic parties with easy parking, lots of picnic tables, and easy access to several hiking trails.

The Biltmore Estate
Take an Asheville Picnic Company picnic with you on the grounds of the Biltmore Estate. With thousands of acres to explore, there are numerous options for places to spread your picnic blanket! A few great Biltmore picnic spots include the Lagoon, anywhere along the French Broad River, or at the Diana statue atop the hill facing the Biltmore house. You’ll need to check with Guest Services for a complete list of approved picnic locations where outside food is permitted, as some places are off limits.

The North Carolina Arboretum
Just south of Asheville, you will find acres of cultivated gardens and groomed hiking and biking trails nestled here in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Be mindful there is a parking fee of $16 per vehicle, but no other admission charge.

Max Patch
Some call Max Patch “the crown jewel of the Appalachian Trail” because this 350-acre tract of open land offers stunning 360-degree views of the Smoky Mountains. Max Patch is one of the most spectacular settings you will experience in the Blue Ridge, and it’s a perfect spot for a picnic! Max Patch sits deep in Pisgah National Forest and is about a 1-hour and 20-minute drive from Asheville.

Bearwallow Mountain / Bearwallow Mountain Trail
Located 19 miles from downtown Asheville and 16 miles from downtown Hendersonville, this one-mile trail welcomes hikers to a bald summit with a panoramic view….perfect for a picnic! You will find wildflowers in the spring, grazing cows in the summer, beautiful fall color in Autumn, and views for miles every season. Bearwallow Mountain is an ideal picnic location and kite-flying location if the winds are favorable.

French Broad River Park and Carrier Park
Located in West Asheville, this riverside park has vast open green spaces, walking trails, picnic tables and a dog park. It connects to the French Broad River Greenway, a 2.8-mile bicycle and pedestrian trail. Carrier Park is also nearby and connected by the greenway and offers rollerskating, biking, and walking trails. You can take advantage of the green grassy fields in either of these parks…ideal to settle in with your picnic blanket and basket!

Asheville Downtown Pack Square
This public green space in the center of downtown has been a focal point in Asheville since the city’s creation. Pack square offers 6.5 acres for visitors to relax and picnic. The large open green space overlooks a main stage which is the site for many festivals, concerts, and other events.

Botanical Gardens of Asheville
Located just 2 miles from downtown at the University of NC Asheville, this is a beautiful spot to have your Picnic delivered! 10 Acres of land with an easy walking trail over streams and through meadows, this garden is home to native Southern Appalachian plants, trees, wildflowers and herbs.

Land of Waterfalls: Brevard, NC
About 30 miles from Asheville, Brevard is celebrated as North Carolina’s “Land of Waterfalls”, and is also considered one of the top mountain biking destinations in the US with 300 miles of single track throughout the pristine forests. With 250 waterfalls and 100,000 acres of public land, you can’t go wrong taking your Picnic to Brevard!
